NORTH EAST CELL

1. Seminar on Racial Diversity Sensitization (26th March, 2022) :

‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 31st October, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In keeping with the initiative, on 26th March 2022, the National Commission for Women along with the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and Special Police Unit for North Eastern Region (SPUNER) of Delhi Police organized a seminar on Racial Diversity Sensitization at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The seminar was graced by the presence of Chief Guest – Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, MoS, External Affairs and Education, esteemed panelists and dignitaries from stakeholder organizations. The program was attended by almost 1400 people including police officials from various states, officials from CISF, CRPF, BSF, NSG and other paramilitary forces, State Women Commissions from the North East Regions, Government Officials from Various Ministries/National Commissions, Resident Commissioners of State Bhawans in Delhi, Officials from Delhi State Legal Service Authority, RWAs, NGOs/Civil Society Organizations and Faculty Members/Students from various Universities/Colleges.

2. Exposure Trip of Students from Nagaland (6th to 10th June, 2022) :

The National Commission for Women hosted and sponsored the visit of ten girls studying in different colleges of Nagaland from 6th to 10th June, 2022. The objective of the visit was to provide them exposure to the working of Government Institutions/National Commissions as well as places of public interest and historical importance in Delhi. The students visited the Parliament House, PM Sanghrayala, various State Bhawans, National Commissions like Minority Commission, NCPRCR, NCST and Special Police for North East Region (SPUNER) of Delhi Police. They also got the opportunity to meet and interact with Hon’ble Minister, Law & Justice, Shri Kiren Rijiju. The highlight of the entire trip was their  meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi where they discussed and sought views of the Hon’ble Prime Minsiter on a host of topics including his vision for the North East, his experiences in Nagaland and the importance of Yoga in daily lives. The entire exposure trip not only enhanced their understanding of different cultures and perspectives, but also focused on their holistic development, boosting their self confidence and self reliance. 

3. Capacity Building of Woman Traders in Manipur (July, 2022):-

To give wings to women entrepreneurs of Manipur to fly higher and make their own identity in the field of business and with the objective of tapping their potential and enabling them for wider outreach and visibility of their products and services, 5 capacity building training programme with collaboration of Manipur State Commission for Women Traders was organized to strengthen their livelihoods through enhanced production and collective marketing capabilities. It also covered all aspects of their life to create more entrepreneurial opportunities for them, thereby improving their livelihood, social security and overa ll quality of life.

4. Seminar on “Addressing the Issue of Polygamy in Arunachal Pradesh” (14th November, 2022)

The National Commission for Women in association with Arunachal State Women Commission organized a seminar on “addressing the Issue of Polygamy in Arunachal Pradesh” where Sh. A. Asholi Chalai participated as Guest of Honour.

5. Seminar on “Women and Health, A Holistic and Life-cycle Approach” on 25TH May, 2023 at Guwahati, Assam ; 

To understand the ground-level challenges and deliberate upon ways to create a better environment around the issue of Women’s Health and Nutrition, the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Assam State Commission for Women (ASCW) with active support from the Women and Child Development(WCD) Department, Govt of Assam organized a Regional Level Seminar on “Women and Health, A Holistic and Life-cycle Approach” involving all North-Eastern States.

6. Seminar on “Socio economic Status of Single Mothers” on 23rd June, 2023 at Shillong Meghalaya

A seminar on the socio economic status of single mothers was held in Shillong on 23rd June, 2023 in collaboration with Meghalaya State Commission for Women.

7. Seminar on “Safety of Domestic Workers and others” on 27th July, 2023 at Aizawl, Mizoram ; NCW in collaboration with Mizoram SCW organized a seminar on “Safety of Domestic Workers” at Aizawl, Mizoram to create awareness for the safety of domestic workers, monitoring/regulation of placement agencies, strengthening of enforcement agencies for their protection. Hon’ble Minister, Er Lalrinswma, Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Dept, Sh Anil Shukla, IPS, DGP Mizoram and Sh Udit Prakash Rai, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Dept attended the event.
