Human Trafficking Case

  1. Victim left her house from West Bengal at the age of 16 and forced to came to Jammu and Kashmir
  2. She is married and have 3 children.
  3. During last 8 years she could never connect with her parents and wanted to connect back to her long lost family and called NCW Helpline
  4. NCW helpline contacted SSPs of South 24 Pagranas, Paschim Medinipur, Hoogly and Sundarban to help and identify victim’s family.
  5. Finally the victim’s family was identified and she was able to connect back with them.

Child Custody

  1. Victim called from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh and informed that her she was in her parent’s house due to domestic distress.
  2. She complained that her husband took her seven month child.
  3. NCW helpline contacted the OSC & SHO of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh
  4. The child was restored to her with the help of Child Welfare Committee of the Police Station

Assault and Harassment

  1. Victim called from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand and informed that her relatives has physically assaulted her family
  2. NCW helpline immediately contacted Katkamdag police station Hazaribagh, Jharkhand
  3. At the time of follow up she stated that the concerned police station contacted her and visited the place of incident
  4. FIR under section IPC 341, 323, 324, 307 and 34 was registered and respondents were arrested.

Widow Remarriage

  • A woman, who was a widow from Moonak Village, Sangrur District, Punjab alleged violence by her in-laws.
  • She wanted to marry the person of her choice but her in laws and parents were objecting to it.
  • She was facing harassment and violence by her in-laws and requested for police intervention.
  • NCW helpline contacted SP Sangrur District, Punjab and she was provided the help she needed.
  • She was able to marry the person of her choice and is currently living happily with her husband.

Domestic Violence

  • The NCW helpline received a distress call from a woman, who was pregnant from a hotel near Kanpur City railway station, Uttar Pradesh.
  • NCW helpline contacted OSC of Kanpur City and SHO Kanpur City.
  • The police team identified the victim staying under a different name and ID proof in the hotel.
  • On investigation it was revealed that she hailed from Bokaro, Jharkhand and belonged to the Muslim community whereas her husband belonged to the Hindu community.
  • Her husband who was working in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was briefed about the matter and she was rescued and sent safely to her sister’s house.

Rescue

  • The NCW Helpline received a call from Bihar seeking help for her sister who was in Baripur Tola, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The victim was tied to the gate and beaten by her husband.
  • NCW helpline contacted SP Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The Police rescued the victim and counselled both the parties.

Shelter Home

  • The NCW Helpline received a call from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The caller informed that he was living with his 17 year old daughter in Rain Basera (shelter home) near Muzaffarnagar railway station and worked as a daily wage labour.
  • His daughter was suffering from mental health issues and it was difficult for him to provide her a suitable shelter home.
  • NCW helpline immediately contacted the Coordinator of Child Line from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh who provided his daughter with suitable help.

Assault & Police Apathy

  • A SOS call was received from a woman from Bassi, Jaipur City Rajasthan.
  • The victim was assaulted by unknown persons and the police was not taking any action.
  • NCW helpline contacted SHO Bassi, Jaipur Rajasthan and an FIR U/S- 341,323,354,354(B), 34 was registered and appropriate action was taken.

Right to Exercise Choice in Marriage

  • A caller from Suroth, Karouli, Rajasthan informed the Helpline that his friend was facing physical violence from her family members and she did not have access to a mobile phone.
  • NCW helpline immediately contacted the SHO and OSC Suroth, Karouli, Rajasthan.
  • The team visited the victim’s house and her complaint was registered and her statement was recorded before the Magistrate.
  • The victim decided to go with her parents and her parents assured us that they will not force her to marry against her wishes.

Cyber Crime

  • A victim from Sarita Vihar, Delhi was receiving unknown calls on her mobile and the respondent was using her photographs.
  • NCW helpline immediately contacted SHO Sarita Vihar, Delhi.
  • Following Police intervention the victim stopped receiving calls, messages and video calls.
  • She felt safe and was satisfied with the help provided.
