Women Welfare and Capacity Building Cell

NCW has been conducting Women Empowerment centric programs since its inception, however, a dedicated cell for the purpose was setup in 2019. Women Welfare & Capacity Building Cell (WW&CBC) of NCW works on the needs of women-centric interventions to address the most pressing challenges affecting empowering of women at economic, social, cultural and political level

Functions of Women Welfare & Capacity Building Cell

  • Coordinating all initiatives for putting in place a robust mechanism to tackle persistent indifference to the cause of vulnerable women.
  • Activities relating to imparting gender specific knowledge/training to police, judicial and administrative officials with a view to inculcate gender sensitivity (Gender Sensitisation Programmes).
  • Capacity Building Programmes for investigating/police judicial and administrative officers (Capacity Building Programmes).
  • Capacity building and skill development program for college students, women at grassroots level.
  • Coordination with various stakeholders for handholding of women at grassroots level.
  • Organizing/conducting workshops, conferences, seminars, legal awareness Programmes involving students, members of the legal fraternity, Corporate, non-governmental organizations and various other stake-holders.
  • Digital Literacy Programmes for college/University students to handle training programmes relating to home-stay tourism for women in North Eastern States in coordination with North East Cell.
  • Organizing awareness programs on various women centric issues through healthy competitions for college/University students with a view to generate awareness and inculcate gender sensitivity.
  • Interaction with State Commissions for Women and hand holding.
  • The cell is also managing the content of NCW-Her Legal Guide Mobile App

  iii. Organizing Awareness Programs Seminars/Webinars/Workshops on various women centric issues and challenges.

 iv. Organizing Awareness Program on Digital literacy and cyber security.

 v. Interaction with State Commissions for Women and hand holding

The Cell organized programs at State, Regional and Pan India Level. In order to increase the outreach of its programs the cell collaborates with multiple stakeholders some of them being Sate Women Commissions, National Legal Services Authorities, Central and State Universities, NGOs etc.

A detail proposal with following information should be submitted to Joint Secretary or any other higher officer:

  • Expected object and outcome of the proposed program
  • Training Module/ outline of the proposed program
  • Expected number & category of target group
  • Resource persons with contact details
  • Date & Venue
  • Support requested from NCW
  • Head-wise estimated budget details (if financial support is requested from NCW)
